|One of my favorite places within a driving distance from my home in Kensington, MD is Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge on the southern tip of Assateague Island and I had the good fortune of spending two days there recently. The weather was perfect, the sights were as magnificent as always and the seafood was as good as expected from the eating places at the cozy little town of Chincoteague. What was surprising was the high number of people at the beach, but then again, this is the first time I visit during the high summer; I had always visited during the off months when one can have miles and miles of beach just for yourself.I did manage to capture a sunset from Tom’s Cove with the red colors of the setting sun reflected in the water channels of the marshes and over the lagoons where migratory birds make their rest stop during migration season and where there is an abundance of wildlife year around.
